What is the best and most affordable SMS gateway to perform the following:

a) send out bulk SMS to USA and Canadian numbers b) have 2 way SMS enabled. I need people to be able to reply, for example "Reply with keyword HELLO" and to be able to specify a URL where the incoming request is directed towards c) use a customised Sender ID d) Possibility for the same as above but with MMS

ClickATell seem to charge a large amount for the 2 way messaging (dedicated number which is no good) and they also don't allow for customised Sender ID's unless you request it first which is no good.

In the UK, I use TextMarketer for normal messages or IntelliSMS if the message requires a reply.

Could I use an Indian gateway company for this?

I'd like to know the best SMS gateway that will allow me to carry out the above in USA and Canada.

By far, the cheapest SMS gateway is free - the email gateway provided by the wireless telephone company. Verizon Wireless, AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, et al have these email gateways in place for bidirectional text messaging.

Emailing [email protected], for example, sends an SMS (that can be replied to) to (123) 456-7890 on Verizon Wireless.

Yes, it's good to use the internet gateway. makes it much easier for me to block the spam on phone.

Thanks, I'll look into that but I'm assuming they won't like me sending up to 3,000 messages per day.

@Paul Unless they specify a rate limit on their web site's terms of service, I don't see an issue. Just make sure you're not spamming, and obey any best practices you would use for any mass emailing to subscribers.
