Looking for a cheap way of receiving text messages by HTTP POST or other easy way. I want it to be standard rate dedicated number (no keyword).

I've looked at http://totext.net/ and it looks good for a UK number. Any other recommendations?

Also, any recommendations for a US number?

Have you looked at http://zeepmobile.com/? SMSs can be handled through a POST request.

Interesting! Free shortcode + keyword. I'll definitely have a look although as I said I'm looking for a dedicated number. Thanks!

Another plug for MBlox (http://www.mblox.com)...

You actually don't need a phone number/shortcode to send/receive SMS messages; nearly every cell phone can send/receive SMS messages to/from any email address. I built an SMS service (http://www.txtreg.net) using Nearly Free Speech's ability to forward email to a URL as a POST request. User sends a text to an email address, PHP script processes it, and sends an email right back to their phone.
