I'm thinking of creating an answering machine in android that automatically alerts the caller that he/she has reached the answering machine after an alloted time and then records the message. Is it possible in android?
Is there really no way to do that in android? What about just playing a beep sound or recording the audio from the caller?

Not only do you not have any way to play audio to the caller, but you have no way of answering the phone.

Most phone companies charge for Voicemail. An answering machine app can save you money The phone companie$ still run the show and Google is helping them milk you down.

Android better than Iphone?... They are both venus fly traps.
Symbian phones do have answering machines.

I am looking for Answering Machine which could work with my HTC Desire (Android 2.1) phone. There is a big demand in the market for this application which could act as answering machine for unattended incoming calls and record the message to reply back and also have feature of record the conversation. Please let me know if you have such application or were it can be found.
