Hello,

I am looking for project management software which has support for bug tracking. Its for a school project i have searched on stackoverflow but i did not find something useful. I am now using collabtive but is does not have bug tracking support. I need these things:

  • Runs on php
  • Bug tracking
  • Project management (assign a project leader who can assign tasks and bugs to other project members)
  • Easy to install like collabtive i am going to install it on a server i only have access through FTP so i cant install any dependencies if needed.
  • Free/opensource

Thanks in advance,

Mantis? I use it all the time.

+1 for Mantis. Feels a bit clunky sometimes but ticks all the above boxes and straightforward to use :-)

Doesn't seem to have the project management features like assigning tasks etc..

@slayerIQ sure it does: if you go into an issue there's an "Assign To:" button. Or, in the View Issues page, check a bunch of issues and select "Assign" in the dropdown at the bottom of the page.

I am using mantis now in combination with collabtive :D

Dare I say it FogBugz :)?

It is not PHP (Windows based AFAIK) though

BTW, for those not getting the somewhat "inside" joke, FogBugz is a flagship product of a company whose founder is one of the 2 co-founders of StackOverflow (Joel Spolsky of JoelOnSoftware blog fame)

FogBugz is only free for one or two users.

School project - 2 might be enough depending on his team size. I never had a school project with >2 member team - yah, my college sucked :)
