Visual Studio 2008 SP1 throws exceptions while opening and closing any solution

Visual Studio 2008 is working well since 2008 on my computer. But today I observed a strange problem. Whenever I open/close any solution, new or existing one it takes long time and almost hung.

It consumes lot of memory during this time.

Did anyone face similar problem?

I've had this problem before and is usually attributed to corruption in the .sln (the solution) or .csproj/.vbproj files. Compare your files with the last known good backup to determine what the difference is.
