My Motorola Droid shows up just fine in this configuration and appears as a deployment target. Works like a snap. How do I get the HTC Eris Droid to show up as a deployment target? Is there some special driver needed for the Eris?

Well, I goofed up on this one. I missed a step in the "Setting up a Device for Development" directions at http://developer.android.com/guide/developing/device.html. All that was needed was to Turn on "USB Debugging" on the device in application settings. Dumb.
