Hi.

No flame wars please!!

Researching/Looking for a CMS/DMS that I can use that will be suitable to modify. I'd prefer a php/lamp based approach if possible. I've looked at quite a few CMS/DMS apps, and can't find one that meest my needs, but a bunch that are all about the same. So i'm going to have to modify whatever I choose.

I'm trying to get some thoughts/insights from anyone who's gone down this path, in terms of what you've seen, or learned. I mean, should I stay away from apps based on templates, are there some CMS/DMS apps better suited for modifying than others, etc..

Overview of my goals:

-Upload/Download files
-Manage ~5000/10000 files within the app
-Interface with underlying version control "svn/git/etc.."
-Workflow functionality for the docs/users
-User Access Control Policies (for Role/Access process)
-Admin section (Users, System, Docs)
-Basic Reporting Section on status of Docs through the system

The idea is that a user will be able to select the file that they're going to work on, and that role that they'll have. So as a file moves through the workflow, the different users will process it, with the file residing in different "phases" of the workflow process.

All of this will be managed via the app.

And yes, I'm stil considering rolling my own solution, but thought I'd do a sanity check here as well!

So any thoughts/comments would be appreciated.

Thanks

tom
