Magento images not showing on front end

Question

I'm using Magento 1.4. I have two website set up. If I upload images to Website A, they appear fine on both front and back end. If I upload or import images to Website B, they do not appear on the front end, only the backend. I'm completely stuck. I'm happy to provide any additional details that may be helpful, but am so frustrated I'm not sure what is necessary info to fix the problem. Thanks!

• deleting the cache
• rebuilding indexes

Make sure your /media folder is writeable.

Try editing the correct "Store View" for that product.

how can you make sure that the media folder is rewritable? I have the same problem. I can see the images on the backend but not the frontend. and in my cpanel I do not have a media folder. I have a product folder, a catalog, etc, but no media folder. what do I do?

Or the original uploaded images maybe to big! try and keep them under 300kb
