I recently installed VirtualBox at home and, soon after, my web connection speed slowed dramatically--even when I wasn't using the VM. Checking my network connections I see a local connection as well as my regular connection. I'm assuming this local connection is a service of some sort I installed when I installed VirtualBox, something that allows file sharing between my virtual and "non-virtual" machines ... Is this right? And, if so, can I adjust the service (or turn it off when I'm not using the VM) so it doesn't slow my web connection?

Thanks, as always -- Al C.

p.s. I'm only seeing this effect on the one machine. I installed VirtualBox on another computer, and everything is working as it always has.

Might be a routing problem, check your routing tables on the VM host machine.

I didn't notice this problem as well.

Yes, the local network is used for virtualbox with your guest communcation, please use sniffer tool to check what is the traffic over the network.

Hope it can give some hints
