Hi, does anyone know of an API or where I could get hold of data/script to create a <select> drop down lists for occupation and job type?

Regards,

Phil

A:

I haven't seen if they provide an API directly, but the HR-XML Consortium has developed schemas describing things like that in a "standardized" way.

HR-XML is a library of XML schemas developed by the HR-XML Consortium, Inc. to support a variety of business processes related to human resource management. It includes schemas to represent résumés, payroll information, benefits enrollment, and so on.

Be aware that many countries has local extensions to these though (believe it or not, job types and occupations is not an easy thing to standardize globally!). For us in Sweden, AMS has done a pretty good job extending these for local use and they're providing a web service for it. Start from HR-XML and you'll probably find something useful, whatever your exact use case for this information is.

On a second read of the question, I realize I might have misunderstood it completely! As you probably understand, my answer is about where to find somewhat standardized job type and occupation data to populate the html <select> with; not how to create the actual <select> itself :)
Jakob
No you are correct. I am only after the data to populate. I can do the rest myself. just looking at http://www.hr-xml.org now
