Where a developer can sell / donate his time?

Recently business isn't good and was wondering what are your favourite places where

• you can sell your time working on a projects (you get specification / idea -> you crank code -> you get paid :) ) (I don't mean selling your own apps, just working for someone else)

  or

• where you can donate your time (you get specification -> you crank code -> you feel good :D) (I've heard about cranking code on weekends for charities in US but I'm from Poland so I was thinking about something not location specific)

As to your last point. I would imagine there are quite a few charity organizations that would appreciate if you donated time to do development work on their web sites or other applications rather than give a monetary contribution to their cause. Maybe there is some local organizations that you could contact? It doesn't have to be a official, big thing like Give Camp or other coding for charity initiatives.
