I need a tutorial that explains the basics of Flash and AS3 (including usage of OO in AS3) Any recommendations?

There's some good stuff on this page...

http://www.moock.org/lectures/

Mostly lecture notes/slideshows, but if you already know programming you should be able to interpret it reasonably enough and supplement it with solid examples from other sources.

As @Jasconius mentioned Colin Moock's site has a bunch of really great information. His book (Essential Actionscript 3.0) is easily my number one reference source too.

Senocular has a series of really excellent tutorials on his site here: http://www.senocular.com/flash/tutorials/

Lastly, Adobe's documentation is pretty great and they also have a programming guide here: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/ActionScript/3.0_ProgrammingAS3/

Good luck!

If you're coming from C++ you'll be able to pick it up quickly. I hope this helps.
