im using ajax call on a comment form for a greek site. The encoding works fine for Firefox but not in IE.

$(document).ready(function() {
$.ajaxSetup({ scriptCharset: "utf-8" , contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8"});

 $('#submitAjax').click(function() {
  var name = $("#name").val();
  var email = $("#email").val();
  var comment = $("#comment").val();
  var recaptcha_response_field = $("#recaptcha_response_field").val();
  alert(recaptcha_response_field);
  var recaptcha_challenge_field = $("#recaptcha_challenge_field").val();
  var article = $("#article").val();
  var today = $("#today").val();

 $.ajax({
 type: "GET",
 contentType: "application/x-www-form-urlencoded; charset=utf-8",
 url: "new.php",
  data: "name="+name + "&email="+email+ "&comment="+comment+      "&recaptcha_response_field="+recaptcha_response_field+ "&recaptcha_challenge_field="+recaptcha_challenge_field+ "&article="+article+ "&today="+today,
 success: function(data){
   $("#response").html(data);
   }
 });

  });

});

i have everything in utf-8. I' ve been searching for a solution for hours....
