Dreamweaver sounds like over-kill for my needs. XSitePro sounds like it would fit the bill. Any others worth looking at?

I need to build a fairly simple site for my wife's consulting business. I like the idea of being able to choose from a variety of templates, but I want to have full control over the site so I don't mind doing some HTML hacking but want to get this site up and running with a minimum of time and effort. I don't care about the SEO and marketing features of XSitePro.

Is FrontPage worth a look?

Any thoughts will be greatly appreciated.

You might want to consider Kompozer, a successor to NVu. It's similar to DreamWeaver, but free. It has ports for Windows, Macintosh, and Linux. FrontPage has been replaced by Microsoft Expression Web. You might be able to find an older copy of FrontPage, but I would go with Kompozer over it.

Have you considered something like joomla? or another CMS?

For a slightly stripped down version of Dreamweaver check out homesite. I liked nVu as well. Do not, under any circumstance, try any version of FrontPage. I beg of you.

Also check out Office Live which hosts and provides templates that look pretty professional.

Frontpage is no longer being sold, do NOT use Frontpage.

Find a decent looking CSS template, hack it to your needs. Aptana is a pretty good HTML editor. I would start there.
