My spouse is looking for good book on WebSphere. Preferebly from starter to advanced. She is an experienced developer.

Can anybody reccommend a title?

Thanks in advance.

If she's looking to do development for WAS, it wouldn't be a book on WAS itself that she's after.

You'd want to get her a book on one of the IBM development tools such as Rational Application Developer. This is Eclipse on steroids and includes WAS as a component for testing within the IDE. Check out the RAD7 prgramming guide here.

If she just wants an overview of WAS, I would suggest the technical overview redpaper here or the developer guide here.

In any case, your first port of call for IBM products should be IBM's own redbook site here.

They put a great deal of effort into these documents and they encourage their people strongly to put these redbooks together. All these redbooks and redpapers are available for free download (PDF format).

I've heard good recommendations for Kyle Brown's book, Enterprise Java Programming with IBM WebSphere

http://www.packtpub.com/webSphere-application-server-7-0-administration-guide/book this book was written by myself for a quick overview of WebSphere administration. Lookout for my next book which will cover advanced WebSphere administration.
