MSBuild Newbie questions

Hi Guys, I am new to MSbuild so some of my questions could be stupid.Excuse me for that.

1) I created some of the new build definitions on my local machine. Do I need to create them also on my build server.

2) Currently my build is failing.Which log file I need to look to find out more and where to look(location).
