I have just inherited a Sharepoint publishing site after a work colleague left. There are about a dozen users on the site, most of which are listed as site owners and can modify content. Three of them are unable to add images when editing pages. They can start editing a page and click on the Image icon to bring up the "Edit Image Properties" page but when they click the "Browse" button to select an image SharePoint throws the following error:

The specified view is invalid. at Microsoft.SharePoint.SPViewCollection.get_Item(String str DisplayName)
    at Microsoft.SharePoint.Publishing.Internal.States.AssetPickerDetailsState.InitGridView(GridView grid)

All the Googling I've done around suggests that this is a problem that generally happens with custom webparts, but this is happening with the standard asset picker and to three seemingly random users.

I suspect that Sharepoint has got its permissions screwed up somehow but I'm not sure how to check for that. Has anyone ever had a similar issue?
