Best way to Learn PHP

I am currently learning from a PHP Steven Holzner book. Got any other way to learn?

The PHP tutorial of the PHP Quakenet Channel is very popular. If you have questions you can always visit the IRC channel irc://quakenet.org/#php

The PHP manual.

Ditto. The manual is the best source of information.

@Col. Shrapnel, allow me to rephrase: "The manual is very *educational*."
Gabriel Evans
@Gabriel I have to disagree. Manual is the best as the online help, but poor schoolbook. You've just never tried to learn programming basics from the manual. They assume you have already knowit. That's why its bad for learning from scratch

Dunno that Holzner but you need programming basics (conditions, loops, variables, arrays, functions, debugging), basic strings operstors (string assignation, concatenating, substring, strpos etc) and basic HTTP understanding. Throw in basic SQL an you'll be set.

Arrays and debugging seems most complicated things for the newbies. So, pay more attention to these parts.

Scour forums and message boards around the Internet looking for people asking PHP questions. Try to solve their problems for yourself. At first you're not going to understand a lot of it, but it will get easier.
