I'm serving PDFs over HTTP.

I have adobe reader installed, and when I open a link to a PDF, the reader automatically starts within the browser (IE8, FF3, Chrome4).

When I have larger PDFs (20+MB) it randomly fails to open them in Chrome and FF.
I'd say it's about a 30% chance to fail.
The failing doesn't happen on IE.

There is no error message.

It seems like the browser is trying to open the reader, but the reader is not placing it's frame within the browser, so the browser just has empty content space.

Does anyone know what's going on?
