I wanna learn to program in Java so i can program for Android and iPhone. so is there a book or something where i can learn the basic very fast.

I have a programming background in PHP, MySQL etc

I started with the official Java tutorial which you find here. But to write applications for the iPhone, you must learn Objective-C and not Java.

Check this stackoverflow question : How to learn developing Android applications where i have posted answer..

So you can start With Android Programming,and yes Android programming is done with JAVA...but for I-phone you have to learn Objective-C.
