Hello everyone this is my first question here in stackoverflow.

I am creating an e-shop in ASP.NET + C# for a client. First of all I would like to ask if anyone knows how good Crystal Tech web hosting is (not the dedicated servers package as that is somewhat expensive);

Second I want to ask what sort of support - maintenance - guarantees should I give to my client and what sort of issues should I be aware of that will probably creep up on the website.

In fewer words I would like to ask all you more experienced developers out there what are the common pitfalls that I should avoid and fee should I ask of my client for protecting him from them.

Thank you all for your time.

My advice to your client would be to ensure that someone on the team has experience with e-commerce. I intend no offense - this is standard advice - there are many potential pitfalls that, if not handled properly, could cost your client. Perhaps you could sub-contract with someone who has done this before.

Dont know Crystal Tech as a host...

Genrally in terms of support etc I would;

For the hosting of the application then never offer anything that the hosting company can offers to you. Might be better to just say your hosted (customers may get a better feeling)

If there is a marketing campaign - there may be excessive traffic to site which means that it might break - so get that cavated. Customers normally understand it in terms of risk to cost. BUT do offer a sliding up scale based on what the hosting company can provide if they do want to spec out to the maximum.

For software support - normally you (your company) should offer banded support you will need things like Time to Respond, Time to Fix, Time to resolutions then costings based on differentails for these..

Bronze Silver Gold etc

Then see what that cost you...

My 2cents worth

Hope it Helps./
