+2  A:

SEO: Search Engine Optimization

What does that mean? 1 of 2 things:

  1. Manipulate your content so that you appear at the top of search results.
  2. Add key metadata to your web pages that allows a user find your website easier.

Answers:

  1. SEO is a process (methodology).
  2. Use the HTML meta tag to add keywords. Use easy, straight-forward h1,h2,h3,h4... tags -- don't be cute with titles. Use alt tags on your images. Elaborate. Use commented RTF data. Post relevant comments and answer questions on blogs, always proving a link back to your site. Ensure your HTML validates. Be relevant to your user.
  3. Yes! Track page visits, views, referrals, and site loyalty with Google Analytics. Track your popularity with Alexa.

Make sure you monitor the metrics in answer #3 so you can demonstrate how effective you are at bringing in new users from search results.
