Hi,

i'm working in a startup and we are looking for VCs. the point is that huge part of our infrastructure are offshore (github, gmail and basecamp). So our development team is local, which is great, but we did a choice to offshore our infrastructure, since they are not our core, we don't want to spend tons of money in datacenter and netadmins. My question are:

  • does anybody here thinks that it can in some how slow down our work? my personal answer here is no, since github, gmail, basecamp they have a perfect uptime and they are worldwide accessible, making easily for us to do home-office for example

  • is it a problem for a VC? I mean, it can sound more amateur just because we don't have a local datacenter with local admins? Does they do any infastructure audit and when they see that all infrastructure are offshored, maybe they don't like it..

  • Gives it a insecure impression? Since we actually don't have physical control over our SCM or mails servers for example..

I think this wouldn't matter one bit to a VC. It's a detail that they just don't care about.

They want to know how you are going to make money - what is the market, sales plan (and track record), and are the financial circumstances such that they would have a nice return. Combine that with the quality of your management team, and everything else is a detail.
