BlackBeltFactory.com uses a 'belt system' as a proxy for how much you know and how far you are in their certification system, sort of like martial arts belts.

The belt system seems like it does a better job of showing progress. Instead of all-or-nothing tests, it breaks the certification process down into smaller steps.

I see that they have a lot of questions, exams and the community around it is quite big, recently they also have made some changes to make their website more social.

But beside this, have you ever seen a recruitment when score on this site proved real world skills, or made a decision about hiring someone?

How similar are their questions to real world recruitment questions?

Do you think that their 'belt system' is relevant for proving you are a good Java developer?

Get stuff on your resume. If you cannot provide work experience, get experience from Open Source projects.

Getting Sun (now Oracle) certifications prove you know the ropes, and can learn, if you cannot list experience.

I think you'd be better off with SCJP on your resume, to be honest. (And of course SCJP can lead to other Java certifications).
