What would the term be for someone that locked themselves away in a dark room for 3 days with only food and water, then emerged like a phoenix from the flames with a brand new solution written from scratch?

True, neither would I be very happy with someone popping up with a "brand new solution" that only a single member of the team has worked on. "Former employee" sounds like a good description :)

Considering the above posts:

a. He saved all his co-workers with his self sacrifice and hard work.

b. His co-workers are doubtful, jealous and some want him fired.

c. He took 3 days to finish.
