Populating Dropdownlist in MVC

Hi,

I am using Asp.Net MVC.

I have a dropdown in home page. I am using a Html helper dropdownlist.

Is it possible to populate the dropdownlist using Jquery when the page is loaded?

I am new to Jquery + MVC
