Are there graduate schools that are offering degrees in computer science where at least part of the course work can be completed online? I am tethered to my geographic locale. I already have a master's degree in CS so I would be going for my PhD this time.
Gosh, I don't know that it would be worth your time. Having also completed an MS, I couldn't imagine getting a PhD without the academic environment... peers, resources, students, mentors, etc. PhD is much less about taking classes, and more about research. I would want the resources that a full university can provide.
University of Illinois at Springfield has online BS and MS degree programs. but I am not sure about doctoral work.
E-tuition reduces the rate for out of state students, so it might be a very good deal for you.
Drexel University in Philadelphia offers the same MS in Computer Science that you'd get on-campus online. The entire program can be done online. I was looking into this option as Drexel is a decent engineering school, but they are pricey.
I don't know of any place that does CS doctorates online. University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign does have a online Master's degree program, but I'm not aware of it extending to any other graduate degrees. Since a doctorate is typically research-based, I'm not sure if it will be common for schools to offer this as an online degree. I'd actually be surprised if any (reputable) schools do offer this.
What about the University of Colorado in Boulder (where you live, per your profile)?
There's also Nova.
Other than that....
Doing a PhD is a very serious commitment. The problem with an online PhD is that it won't be worth much to you for anything you would actually do with a PhD. I could see a MS degree online but a PhD isn't just like the next step from an MS; it's a different sort of thing. The primary component is your dissertation, which is a document containing your original research.
