Hi In the new version of GMail I have seen a checkbox with a dropdown to select all/none/read/unread/starred/un-starred

Could such a thing be used on my site without getting hit with some look and feel copyright issue?

If not, do you know of one in public domain (jQuery would be nice)

Thanks

Without looking at the underlying HTML, it appears to be an ordinary checkbox sitting in the middle of a div that changes colour and pops up a dropdown when you click it. The checkbox is just a checkbox, and the div is a pretty ordinary pulldown menu. Just put one on top of the other.

It's a pretty compact UI presentation, I like it.

Me too. But would I not be treading on some legal aspects if I just took it as it is?

I'm not a lawyer but I think you'd be fine as long as you don't directly steal exactly their button image and colors. Unless they somehow patented it or something. But by Greg saying it's just a checkbox, a button and a dropdown I think he means to imply that it's just a few basic web components laid on top of each other, I don't see how they could pursue you or anything. For a definitive answer you might try asking a lawyer?
