How to communicate between GSM/GPRS modem and remote PC, secured

Can you please tell me how to communicate between a GSM/GPRS modem and a remote server using secured TCP/IP? We are able to communicate, to and fro. But, how do we secure that communication? I want to accept only requests that come from modems which I will setup all arround, but not any other request (say we can simulate a request to server using tools like HERCULES).
