Is sharepoint Open Source? Can I edit the code? can I install mods (extensions) to sharepoint?

Links will be aperciated! :) By the way I was trying to test drive it, but this doesn't work with IE6, it says I should enable cookies however I'm enabling them :(

Sharepoint, as in Microsoft Sharepoint? No, that's not open source.

Sharepoint is not Open Source. The license is the same as Windows Server 2003, with this exception:

No. If there is any code that you can see, then it is under the Microsoft code license, which pretty much means that you can see it for debugging but you cannot change anything or steal anything for differant purposes.

You caan "extend" Sharepoint by overriding its http modules and by using the sharepoint api.
