We got comcast to come out and setup our Business Class internet service and currently right now I am stuck because I am loosing around "10mb" on a speed test at speedtest.com when I have the router/switch connected to the Comcast Gateway Modem.
I know that this should be a question for Comcast, but lets face it, they are idiots.
Let me first explain everything I have tried doing and hopefully it will help someone point out my issue.
Router = Linksys 10/100 Router 8 port Switch Comcast Modem = Comcast Business Class Business IP Gateway
Try 1) Computer through Comcast Modem - speedtest.com = 52mb down, 11mb up.
Try 2) Computer through Router, Router connected to Comcast Modem (Through WAN) = 40mb down, 11mb up
Try 3) Computer through Router, Router connected to Comcast (Through WAN using Crossover cable) = 40mb down, 11mb up
Try 4) Computer through Router, Router DHCP Disabled, Router connected to Comcast (Through WAN using Crossover RJ45) = 40mb down, 11mb up
Try 5) Computer through Router, Comcast Gateway DHCP Disabled, Router connected to Comcast (Through WAN using Crossover RJ45) = 40mb down, 11mb up
Try 6) Computer through Router, Router DHCP Disabled, Router connected to Comcast (Through LAN, not WAN making Router just act like a Switch) = 50mb down, 11mb up
Even though Try 6 works, I need to still be able to QoS the connections. Since the Router is now acting as a Switch, it won't let me QoS the Router Ports anymore. Comcast Gateway Router doesn't allow QoS.
Anyone know how I can setup this network and still keep my speed at the 50mb down/11mb up with QoS?
