I don't have a technical background but I needed to make a website for a non-profit organisation that I volunteer in. So it will be a simple website with a basic front page with all the latest news and events for the organization. There will be a page about the organisation and its members, a gallery section, a section for articles, some basic forms, space for advertisements etc. Also, since it is a organization's website nice header would also look good.

All in all a nice, modern looking looking website like any small organization will have. I don't have much of a design experience but do have some pictures I can use in the webpage and a logo. I can do little bit of html, css and also some php but never made any real website.

Can someone tell me of a simple framework, template, tool etc that may help me make such a website in quick time?

Easy peezy - either host at at wordpress or you can download the templates and host yourself at your isp of choice. Also very easy to get help with it. Good luck

Template: search google CMS: Drupal or Joomla (drupal has many nice extensions and you don't have to be that good coder to do some basic stuff) Framewok: Codeigniter or cakePHP (but i wouldn't try to work with a framework as a beginner)

http://www.ucoz.com/ - a lot of plugins, so you can place whatever you want, from a blog, to a forum. Quite easy to make skins too.
http://wordpress.com/ - good for news, blogging.
http://www.wix.com/ - a Flash website engine. Pretty cool for presentations of products, portfolio, etc.

Of course, there are many others. I just wrote the ones that my acquaintances use with ease.

Wordpress sounds ideal for you and it will scale with your site. It has a famous five minute set up
