If you just have one or two documents to convert, try http://www.freepdfconvert.com - I've used that site with good success (no affiliation).
(If you're looking to do this programmatically, I don't know.)

I think you can try AnyBizSoft PDF to word converter. AnyBizSoft studio is prof in PDF conversion. It is free and it works very well, keeping the original format and layout. What's more, if platform is mac, AnyBizSoft PDF to word for Mac could also help.
