i have a windows hosting provider and i am moving to another one. what is the best way to migrate a wordpress blog from one hosting provider to another ?

A:

Google for it. I just searched for "how do I migrate my wordpress"

http://www.google.com/search?q=how+do+i+migrate+my+wordpress

Any time it's likely that the problem you face is unoriginal, chances are someone's documented it out on the web.

Baffled by the downvote. The answer clearly exists elsewhere, in a more specific canonical source, as the accepted answer above answers. This question should never have been asked here on SO.

The Wordpress codex provides plenty of information on the topic of moving a Wordpress. If you don't feel like reading through all of that, here is a far shorter guide, that covers essentially the same method.

The most important thing while moving your wordpress blog from one host to another are as following:

(1) Your WP Database (2) Your WP files (including templates) (3) Settings in CONFIG file

You first need to take backup of your WP DB from phpmyadmin and restore that on new hosting company.

Then you should start moving your content (files) to new hosting company.

Once it is done, you need to change config file if required (it is only required, if you're changing blog url ... )

That's all, you're almost done ...
