Has anyone tried porting clamav to android??

There are several commercial alternatives for AV for android like the one from SMobile Systems and Quick Heal but the question to be made is: is it really needed? Android is based on linux and until today there has been no virus for it. We could argue that it could prevent the spread of malware among windows pc's but is there a real need for that?
Until some relevant security issue arise there will hardly be created a open-source project for AV in android...
