need help in choosing technology

Question

I need to create a website - Content based for a Training institute

1. It contains informations of the National Exams, Forms, FAQs, Question Banks etc
2. The training these institutes give for the above exams.
3. Login for staff and students where they can create/share documents like - word/excel/power point.

I know PHP, Cakephp and Wordpress. still an amature in Joomla.

Please suggest me the best possible way to work on this.. i will need a custom design for the website as well. so theming should be relatively easy.

Totally depends on you interest and confidence. I moved to ColdFusion from .net and I see that the basic things are same in each language.

As far as my knowledge PHP is widely used server scripting language, and you have also experience in that, so just dive into the new framework like Joomla..
