Hi,

I am looking for a taxonomy of categories in a kind of tree structure for my project. For example:

Organiation -> (Finance, Business, Government) Finance -> (Hedge fund, equities)

Person -> (Sports, Music, Technology)

Sports -> (Football, Soccer, Basketball)

Music -> (Rock, pop)

Is there a place, I can find this high level categories?

I found http://www.freebase.com/schema/, but there are very less categories and the categories are also not that useful.

Is there a better place to get this info.

Thank you

What domain?

For general knowledge, try OpenCYC, DBpedia, Wikipedia.

Wikipedia/DBpedia may be bigger (schema-wise) than Freebase, but I think you'll find it a lot noisier too, so it depends on how reliable you need things to be. Freebase has less complete coverage, but it's largely human curated.
