is it a crime to embed youtube videos on to an html site if I uploaded them and own them

I know I should know this but I am a bit of a n00b to html/xhtml

In the US, if you shot the video, and it's not a video of copyrighted content or illegal content, then you are ok. If you shot videos of your kittens getting stuck in a paper bag, upload away.

You can't upload your movie DVD's even if you own them. You can't upload illegal content, even if you shot it.

If you upload copyrighted content, YouTube will get a DMCA take-down, which they will comply with. If you are massively uploading copyrighted content, there might be bigger repercussions.
