I need a phone for android development in the US (San Francisco Bay Area). I'm considering the unlocked ADP2 or Nexus One. I would like to be able to switch the sim card from my iPhone to the Android phone while I'm working on the project (ie. during the day) but otherwise use my iPhone. I spoke with an AT&T sales rep who explained that this isn't possible because the devices require different data plans so its not possible to switch back and forth. Can anybody confirm this?

Assuming the rep is correct, what is the cheapest alternative for phone service? I was quoted $70 to add an additional line with data plan on month to month basis. Can anybody recommend a cheaper alternative? Only testing on emulator or wifi only isn't an option. I need a physical phone with service, preferably without long term contract. TMobile?

This isn't a programming question but I think its as relevant as any "how do you setup an android development environment" question.
