Hello,

I'm finishing up my Computer Science degree within the next year. For the past couple of years I've been doing Web Development on a freelance basis.

I'd really like to be able to get a decent job doing Web Development after school. My "professional" experience so far has been with PHP, MySQL, and various frameworks.

I live in the Dayton, Ohio area. We don't have a huge market for web developers at the moment. I'm willing to learn and use any language and technology available. I'm not a big fan of PHP at all so I'd like to switch to something more powerful.

When I do searches online for jobs, I typically see either people going for Java-based solutions or .Net-based solutions. Out of the two, I would prefer Java. The main problem that I have is on every job ad it feels like the company just lists off a bunch of "buzzword" technologies and every company desires different things. It's impossible for me to learn every piece of technology out there before I graduate.

What should I focus on learning and using within the next year to increase my chances on getting a web development job in this area?

Any extra tips would be appreciated too!

Thanks
