Hi,

In order to be able to support an application built in Sharepoint 2007, we need to be able to demonstrate that we have the appropriate skills and that we are trained to obtain sitecollection administrator rights.

We will be supporting the application from a site administration (application/functional) perspective, and not really from a server administration perspective.

Therefore I was wondering what kind of training is required and what kind of certification would be needed. Any recommendations are welcome!

There are two Microsoft certifications related to SharePoint 2007 administration:

However, even in case of easier of these two exams (i.e. 70-631) the scope of measured skills is definitely broader than site collection administration. For example, it includes topics like Configure Network Infrastructure for Windows SharePoint Services or Deploy Windows SharePoint Services 3.0.
