Hello guys, I have this wiered issue for a month from now, I sometimes have troubles trying to initiate the PC to work, it has XP on it, and it loads the progress bar then a power failure occurs, and sometimes, it takes longer time to restart (i.e: I type in my username and password) then it restarts, I noticed that the Power Supply's fan is not working, so is it the issue of a power supply fault??

regards, ~Abed

A:

Could be power supply or heat related.

One major thing that causes restarts is uncorrectable ECC (memory) errors.

Try downloading and running Memtext86. If you're seeing any number of correctable errors - it would mean that it's only a matter of time before uncorrectable ones take out your machine.

thnx and by the way, how could I tell whether it is overheat related?

You really can't - easily - overheating will usually cause a number of *secondary* issues to happen which will in-turn cause the rebooting - so it's hard to nail down the exact failure - then trace that back to the heat issue. For you, it would sound more like it would be the *power supply* overheating - thus the symptom would be low, or unclean power. Easiest way to resolve would be to fix the fan or replace the supply.
