How programming job offers have you turned down? What is the ratio of accepted to declined?

As a programmer to be highly effective is difficult. We even have the Joel test to determine if a workplace is suitable. Have you turned down work that you don't believe will lead you to producing great code.

A:

One for me out of 4, possibly two but the second one I asked not to be considered before the offer.

Two out of six if memory serves.

In my last search I turned down one and was going to accept another (thought I was going to get it) but got turned down at the last minute.

I've never turned one down. I had an internship during college and after I graduated I was hired. I've been working there ever since.

Ratio: 1:0.

I turn any down that require me to sign non-compete clauses. I will sign a NDA (which is different). I wont sign a non-compete. My livelihood wont be shackled like that. And, there are no such things as a reasonable non-compete. I hire people too, I will never make them sign one. To even suggest one throws off the trust balance from the start.
