If you had to choose an enterprise scheduling system which would you choose and why?

The current contenders are: UC4 v CA AutoSys.

We've used Quartz for Java or Quartz.NET for .NET

I agree Quartz.NET is flexible and easy to use. It is open-source as well.

IBM's Tivoli Workload Scheduler. It had a network-oriented, fault-tolerant architecture before IBM/Tivoli acquired it and it has gotten some extremely powerful new features (e.g., DB2/Oracle back-end, web/Java APIs) over the last couple of years. This really depends on what your site uses. For a site where oracle already plays a role, a very valuable option could be the Oracle Scheduler that now also has the remote scheduler agent added to it in 11g. See some docu that explains a lot about the Oracle Scheduler.

I recommend looking at VisualCron - www.visualcron.com

My vote is for Autosys version 4.5.1.. Robust and very stable. The tool of choice for scheduling in most Fortune 100 financial services companies. Stay away from the latest and greatest R11 version until they get the bugs worked out.

Tivoli Workload Scheduler is a good second choice. I am working in a shop using both and my personal opinion is that Autosys is more stable than TWS.
