I am a Junior System Administrator for a government agency. I am still learning on a very regular basis and am looking to expand my knowledge but am at a loss on what path to take. I work in a "Windows Shop" supporting Windows users, Cisco hardware and Debian servers. I have some basic knowledge of Cisco routing. I often have to troubleshoot VBA programming even though I have virtually no knowledge. Perhaps some study material could be suggested?

Ask the people you work with and senior staff what they use day-to-day, or what they'd look for in hiring for a senior position. Really, this could apply to any job, not just system admin stuff.
