hi, I have a requirement by a client to create a MOSS site which can be used to archive and track legal cases. the requirement is that each case has 4 logical steps which are assigned to particular people...each step requires a legal document..

Once a document for the first step is uploaded, a task should be created, requesting for step 2 docs and so on...

My question is...do i need to create a NEW library per legal case? How do i ensure the completed task involves a document uploade

As a lawyer, I love the idea of utilizing technology in order to make legal work more efficient.

That being said, if you want to make your client happy, you should probably ask them if they would like a new library for each case. They know how they want to access and search the information.

My two cents (which might be exactly opposite of the client) are that you would want a single library with folders with each case. Often times when you get a new case you want to look back at previous work that was similar. Any architecture that would allow you to search through these old cases efficiently is best.

Let me reiterate - you should really get more detail from your client and make sure that your design is tailored to their needs - better to ask now instead of reprogram later.

Best of luck!

thanks jordan, you are correct..they want new folders for each case... in situations where each there are several documents to upload for each step in each case, how will the workflow handle it?
