Have you used OpenID in anger?

I'm going to be using OpenID for authentication on my site. Which provider should I recommend to my users?

I'm thinking, based on the feedback that the OpenID auth is getting on StackOverflow, that I'd want to recommend one that does attribute exchange properly. So: who's that?

I use myOpenID, also because it's a very "clean" site purely focused on providing OpenID.

You should probably recommend one from the OpenID site. There is also a guide here to help you compare feature sets of various providers.

I like PIP from VerisignLabs mainly because it lets me use my PayPal key fob for two-factor authentication with OpenID.

I use Vidoop I like the change in login experience, and I think it could possibly be more secure than a standard text password. Their FF plugin is a nice touch too :)

myOpenID is a very good provider. It has tons of features and is very easy to use.

You can even issue openIDs with your own domain with myOpenID.

I use MyOpenID myself, but Jeff Atwood has responded to my problem with my avatar by saying, and I paraphrase here, "That doesn't work so good".

So, who does have a conformant implementation?

Josh
A:

In the link Josh provided, Jeff actually said that attribute exchange is "incredibly difficult at the moment across all openid providers."

So it doesn't look like anyone does it well yet.

I am biased but I use myVidoop, I like the 2 factor auth and password manager for traditional logins.

I would point out that both myOpenID and myVidoop have affiliate programs that will set you up with a custom link that will get your members an OpenID quickly and make sure they are sent back to your site (logged in) when finished.

Hope this helps...
