PHP coding competition

Question

I would like to know if there are any competitions like Sharp Coder for C and Java which are organized for PHP. Does anyone know where I can find some tasks in which to compete?

I don't know of any php competitions. What do you want to gain from such competitions? Maybe you should check php based open source projects that need help instead of competitions. This way you can also gain recognition and do good work in the same "step"

there is a sort of comeptition on phpclasses.org where they give the status of notable classes to some the ones that bring a new concept, and each month they give the PHP Programming Innovation Award to the most voted class from the notable classes posted for that month.
