this: http://test.webdav.org/ seems to claim to be what I want but doesn't seem to work.

A:

I found this and it seems to work.

Old question, but it is probably interesting to everyone who needs to implement or test his/her own WebDAV server or client implementation.

Mentioned test.webdav.org seem half-dead (main page works, but /dav/ fails with 404), and www.testrumpus.com don't work at least under Windows Vista (but works fine with GNOME/GVFS WebDAV client and cadaver).

After some search, I've found this: http://webdav.schlitt.info/. Hope it will be useful.

I can confirm your findings. Unfortunately, the one you found is throwing forbidden on write (at least for me right now, 11/12/2009)

There is a demo account listed on the page at BingoDisk (look under Try BingoDisk).

Another public server that seems to be always available, and maintained:

https://www.crushftp.com/demo/

User and pass is "demo".

I have one up at:

http://demo.sabredav.org/

but:

  • 10MB upload limit
  • Hosted on my sourceforge account, so please don't abuse
  • Won't work with Finder, as it's incompatible with NGinx (the webserver used).
  • user: tesuser pass: test

Here is WebDAV server for testing: http://www.ajaxfilebrowser.com/. No registration is needed it will automatically create a folder for you when you access it first time.
