This is not an advert - it's where would you put an advert for the best effect.

Clarification: it's a employer aiming to find a new (full-time) employee.

If you're looking for a developer who really knows there stuff, I'd recommend:

You'll reach fewer applicants than some more common more wide-reaching job listings, however you should find the quality of the applicants to be significantly higher than you might otherwise find.

I can't recommend these two highly enough.

I find jobs.joelonsoftware.com to be .NET/windows heavy in general, and 99% US centric.

It's very difficult to find a developer on your own. If you're looking for a full-time employee you should really consider getting a job agency to do this for you.

Note that they usually a notoriously bad with identifying good or bad developers and they check the keywords from your job description to find suitable candidates. It means that you have to create a very good job description and work closely with the agent. For example give him a list of questions to ask a candidate.

We've gone that route before, and find them a colossal waste of time and money. The best developers don't even need to use an agency - they just ask a friend, or get hunted away from a job they don't like.

Agree on friend recruiting - it's just that this option is not always available

I have posted there before - but never gotten a developer CV from it. On the bright side, gumtree.com cost money, and I just got outsourcers.

Edit: This site is now dead.

This is a relatively new site: http://www.phppositions.co.uk

It looks pretty good, if a little quiet, and not well know. That said, I've put an ad on it.

@Topbit - It's dead simple and I'd like to keep it that way, concentrate on the marketing and getting more eyes on it for people like yourself@leek - Cheers for the link
